Gabby's Confirmation

So these posts are out of order. Gabby's confirmation was on April 15th. It was the first time out with the new camera so the pics are not great. Nile was an altar server. Here he is carrying the cross during the procession in with the bishop.Really hard to see Gabby but she is in the act of getting confirmed by the bishop. Her confirmation name is Cecilia. (double click on it which will enlarge the pic and then you can see her and the bishop better)
There she is with the white sweater on as the confirmation kids (confirmants or some fancy Catholic word) stood and were presented to the church.

River Run

Today was the River Run which is a great run in town during Riverfest. Bill ran the 10K and did a great job. He didn't get a medal in his age group which always makes him a bit bummed but he ran his best time. I, of course, being in the end stage of pregnancy going on extra day 6 did not run but took plenty of pictures with my new fun camera. I got a new great camera for Lucas as to not miss a smile or a laugh but seeing as how he hasn't come out yet I am going to use the camera for other purposes.

Bill rounding the last turn for the finish line. It was strange to watch the 10K and the 5K at the same time because a lot of walkers beat Bill aka the lady with the red jacket tied around her waist but then again he went twice as far.
My highlight from the race besides seeing Bill do so well was two fold... firstly my friend and co-worker ran the 5K and as she passed me by she yelled, "you're still pregnant. come out baby lucas'. and secondly, as a part of Riverfest there is a criterion (bike race) in town. another good friend and co-worker Tammy was in the pace car. on the way around the loop she saw me walking back to the car after Bill's race and she screams "you're still pregnant". Lucas got two very loud enthusiastic shout outs today. He is already so popular. :-)

40 weeks

Come baby Lucas today please. Your mom is going to pop.

the 501st then to the hospital

So today some Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Princess Leia and a Jawa came to Barnes and Noble for an appearance. They are members of the 501st (Darth Vader's Legion of Stormtroopers) and also a group of Star Wars fanatics who dress up for appearances etc. Well this morning I felt like I had some fluid leak and was wondering if my water was trying to break. My friend Amber had a trickle that made her go in and then they broke her water and then her baby came. I was torn see the stormtroopers v go to the hospital. I decided to do both. When I got there along with our friends, the McCoys, we found the store to be packed. They were also having a book fair for a local elementary. Anyway we were standing right next to an employee with a walkie talkie and he started to make a line. Turns out I was first in line. Bill was at another store with Nile so I called him quickly to come down. They must have lined up over 100 parents and kids behind us. Our lucky day. So out our favorite fictional characters came and in our totally awesome aka dorky matching shirts, me, Bill and the Baby Lucas got our picture taken. Then it was the McCoys' turn. Jason handed their littlest one, Piron, to Darth Vader and he instantly started to scream. The other kids were so shocked that two started crying too and one just stood there. It was pretty funny. Apparently the kids have been jabbering away all week about meeting these guys but when it came time, they were a bit shocked. Poor kids. It is a picture for the ages.
Here they are right before Darth Vader, who was on the bit chubby side, had to sit down because he was getting so hot. I was standing with a gal from work, Lisa, who was waiting for her husband and kids to come in the line. She turned to me and said, "Vader better not have an MI (heart attack) before my kids get to the front of the line but if he does, we'll just start CPR and be heroes"
So that was my day with the our favorite fictional friends. Afterwards we dropped the kids off at home, went to Labor and Delivery and figured out that my amniotic fluid is not leaking. Better safe than sorry, wouldn't want the Baby Lucas to have a dry swimming pool. Then we walked the walk of shame out of Labor and Delivery and are back home.

Aunt Jane

Someone on Youtube posted this tribute video of my Great Aunt Jane who was famous rock-n-roll columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. She turns 90 next month.

Persistence

In spring I always marvel at the persistence of nature. Despite man's best efforts at times, the flowers still come up in the spring. Outside our front step, Bill put down that black landscaping paper held down by rocks late last summer after he had weeded for like the 100th time. "Take that" Bill said to the weeds. Today this perfect little purple flower said back to Bill, "Ha, take this!"
